- The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Definitely one of my most loved books. Heartbreaking, beautiful and hopeful, this book never fails to make me feel something, despite the fact that I may have read it for 10 times now.
Favorite quote: “There are so many things that can break you if there’s nothing to hold you together.”
2. Every Day by David Levithan
Not your usual love story. The concept itself is intriguing, and will surely keep on you interested from page 1. A story of acceptance, and of how love, in its truest, purest form, can make you selfless and selfish at the same time. it that makes sense.
Favorite Quote: “If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: We all want everything to be okay. We don’t even wish so much for fantastic or marvelous or outstanding. We will happily settle for okay, because most of the time, okay is enough.”
3. My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga
A story of two teens planning to commit suicide together, and yet ended up saving each other. Not the best book about depression (I know), but simple and real enough to understand and connect to the reader. And physics references (I know but I’m a huge science nerd).
Favorite Quote: “I wonder if that’s how darkness wins, by convincing us to trap it inside ourselves, instead of emptying it out.
I don’t want it to win.”
4. Tell No One by Harlan Coben
Mystery books are either hit or miss for me. With just the right amount of suspense and thrill, this book kept me at the edge of my seat. I think I finished this book in one sitting and definitely one of my favorite Coben books. (Seriously, read his books.)
Favorite Quote: “I kept hearing that “better to have loved and lost” bullshit. Another falsehood. Trust me, it is not better. Don’t show me paradise and then burn it down.”
5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling
Of course, I wouldn’t end this books recommendations without a Harry Potter book! and why not start with the book that started it all? A magical first book to possibly the most magical series ever written, a book I will read to my future kids, and a book I will treasure all my life.
Favorite Quote: “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”
Here it is folks! Five books for now (since I have an exam later, (which I am totally unprepared for), and will probably do a part 2? Enjoy! 🙂
